Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Incident as Authorities Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident in Providence were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter carried on following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences on social media, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel found a pair of pistols and magazines when the individual was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one student was discharged from care, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only during her upbringing... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and fellow students and grieve for of his bright future.”
