Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the global break, however can the English top division frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football team," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be quite close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.

My son advised me to get Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
