Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
