PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.
The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.
The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.
The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.
However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty win.
The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
