The Hit Drama Announced for 7th Series on the British Broadcaster
The beloved crime series Line of Duty is officially returning for its 7th installment, confirmed by the broadcaster.
An upcoming six-episode season written by Jed Mercurio will begin filming in Belfast this spring, as confirmed by the network.
The actress expressed excitement about the return, saying she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Her co-star remarked, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together next year."
The last series wrapped up in 2021 with a final episode that drew in more than 17 million audience members. Rumors about a potential return have been circulating ever since, but official word only came this week.
Fresh Obstacles for AC-12
Series seven begins with AC-12 no longer existing and renamed as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, as revealed by production details.
Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Ted Hastings continue tasked to tackle misconduct within the law enforcement.
The team's mission "has never been more difficult", and in this climate, these officers will take on their "most delicate case to date."
New Character and Complex Case
An additional officer, Det Insp Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charming officer celebrated for takedowns of criminal networks, is accused of abusing his position to act as a offender.
However, this investigation could be a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows, the teaser hinted.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio said: "Everyone involved feels enormous gratitude to the dedicated viewers."
"It's an honor to have had so many followers watch the developments of AC-12 over multiple series and we are thrilled to be returning for a seventh installment."
Mercurio continued: "Misconduct in this country was thought to be over while the series was off air, so I've been compelled to use my imagination."
